Hello everybody!

At lunch today, (I had a cheeseburger, Mike a Cobb salad), we decided to start a blog related to two of our favorite subjects- gardening and cooking. We'll also discuss related topics like wine, cocktails, entertaining, composting, sustainable urban living, pretty much all the stuff we're interested in and want to share. You'll also find recipes, links, photos, plus random, seemingly random and totally off topic blurbs about anything and everything, from Seinfeld and My Morning Jacket to the California coast and the North Carolina piedmont.

Food is universal. And we believe that food, cooking and gardening can build and strengthen communities, families and friendships. As well, just as cooking creates an interest in gardening, gardening (if you're open to it) grows a physical and emotional bond with the earth and thereby encourages stewardship. The personal is political and this carries over into every aspect of our lives.

Mike and I met at the Crescent City Farmers Market early one stormy April morning in New Orleans. Then and now, our lives have been centered on our home(s) [eight since we met], our gardens and the food we eat.

We now live in San Francisco where we have about 20 container plants at home, mostly herbs, but also a fig tree, an olive tree, a kaffir lime, a raspberry bush and a couple roses. We also have a plot at a community garden nearby where we grow veggies and California natives. We have a kitchen worm bin and are about to get a backyard compost bin; too, the City of San Francisco collects all food and yard waste materials weekly- hella cool!

So, welcome to our blog. We appreciate your interest and look forward to your feedback.

Peace and brussel sprouts,
Corinne and Michael
